Tim Palmer |
Tim Palmer has performed with many of the UK’s orchestras, and has been guest principal (timpani & percussion) of, amongst others, the BBCSO, RSNO, ECO, London Sinfonietta, Northern Sinfonia, Opera North, the English Baroque Soloists and The Nash Ensemble. He has led creative education projects for many of the UK’s leading arts organisations, and works with all age ranges, from early-years to adult, focusing on opening access and leading participation for all in high quality inclusive performances.
Tim specialises in collaborative composition, and in 2007 represented the London Sinfonietta in a project linking the ensemble with the Uganda Dance Academy Orchestra alongside British and Ugandan sculptors to create a multi-media performance for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kampala.
Tim leads TCM’s groundbreaking ‘Musicians in Education’ elective pathway and teaches on the joint TCM/University of Greenwich PGCE course (the only such course involving a university and a conservatoire). He also leads modules and teaches on TCM’s Performance Projects program, equipping students with the professional skills they need to face the demands of a career in music, and facilitating students’ reflection on their own learning processes. |
