Martyn Hill has established a reputation as one of the most distinguished tenors of his generation. His concert repertoire is immense, ranging from the Renaissance to Contemporary music and his career has taken him worldwide. His professional career includes a Mozart programme with the Cleveland Orchestra/Dohnanyi and Handel and Britten with the National Symphony of Washington and Detroit Symphony/Hickox. Also including Britten’s War Requiem with the Sydney Symphony/de Waart, Berlioz’ L’Enfance du Chirst with the Israel Philharmonic/Hickox, the Hong Kong Philharmonic/Atherton and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra/Atherton at the BBC Promenade Concerts. He is highly regarded for his performances of British music such as Tippett’s A Child Of Our Time , Britten’s Les Illuminations, Serenade, Nocturne and Spring Symphony , and as an exponent of contemporary music, premiering Elliot Carter’s In Sleep, In Thunder with the London Sinfonietta/Knussen and Bent Søresen’s The Echoing Garden with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra/Segerstam in Copenhagen.
