Josephine Lively studied the oboe at the Guildhall School of Music with David Theodore and further studies with Maurice Bourgue. Over the last twenty years she has established herself as one of the leading freelance oboists in London. During this time she has worked playing both oboe and cor anglais with nearly every British symphony and chamber orchestra, both for concert work, recording work, and touring throughout the world. Josephine has a vast range of playing experience, which includes not only orchestral work, but also work in opera and ballet companies, session work, chamber music and solo work, and even a three-year sentence as oboist in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love .
Josephine also has a keen interest in teaching at all stages, and in the art and theory of teaching. She has recently compiled the new oboe syllabus for the Trinity Guildhall Grade Examinations, and is in demand as a teacher, examiner, and to coach on chamber music and youth orchestra courses. |
