Robert Aldwinckle has an international reputation as a harpsichordist, having performed very extensively all over Europe, the USA and the Far East. He recently recorded Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra on a widely acclaimed CD. He has made various solo harpsichord CD’s including a recent recording of Haydn Keyboard Sonatas and a very successful recital of famous Bach works. Robert is a much sought-after vocal coach and he works with many young singers both at the Royal Academy of Music and at Trinity College of Music. He has a piano-duo with Michael Aston playing a wide-range of repertoire from Bach through Mozart, Poulenc and Walton. Robert has played in most of the prestigious Halls worldwide including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Philharmonie in Berlin, La Fenice in Venice, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and in Salzburg, Edinburgh, Versailles and Buckingham Palace. He has worked with violinists Zukerman, Menuhin, Kremer, Mullova and Kennedy and with conductors Abbado, Maazel, Farncombe, MacKerras, Leppard, Goodman and Tate. He has worked alongside many world class singers including Jessie Norman, Teresa Berganza, Olaf Bar and James Bowman. Opera houses in which he has performed include Paris Garnier, Reggio Emilia, Drottningholm, Dresden, Venice, Paris Chatelet, Madrid, Versailles and Monte Carlo. Robert has recently returned from Hong Kong where he was conducting from the harpsichord performances of Mozart’s Bastien and Bastienne and Rousseau’s Le Devin du Village as well as giving concerts and broadcasts with violinist Benedict Cruft of the Six Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord by Bach.
