American-born lutenist Jacob Heringman studied with Jakob Lindberg at the Royal College of Music in London, and later with Pat O'Brien in New York. Based in England since 1987, he is in great demand as a soloist and ensemble player performing regularly throughout Europe and North and South America, and making many recordings of medieval and renaissance music with leading ensembles and singers, including Michael Chance, Barbara Bonney, Charles Daniels, Catherine King, Fretwork, Musicians of the Globe, The King's Singers, Virelai, and the Dufay Collective.
Jacob Heringman has a growing reputation for his passionate and committed recitals and recordings of deserving but neglected renaissance repertoire. His solo recordings of Holborne, Bakfark, Josquin, and Jane Pickeringe's Lute Book have been widely praised by critics, as have his most recent releases, The Art of the Lute Player and The Siena Lute Book.
Jacob Heringman teaches in the Trinity College of Music Early Music Studies, and is also a qualified and STAT-certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. |
