In this module, students develop their knowledge and understanding or arrangement techniques through the study of a range of works. They develop the skills required to undertake arrangements whilst developing an individual voice and working method. Lectures are given by College staff and visiting lecturers, and students receive individual tutorials to support their studies. Typical areas of study include chord voicing, harmonisation, rhythm, melody, colour, form and their application in a range of styles. Assessment consists of a coursework portfolio, a rehearsal and a Viva Voce. Students will be required to show that they can work to a professional brief and demonstrate knowledge, understanding, communication, interaction and time-management.
