Born in Manchester, Melanie studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Richard Addison and Derek Honner. As a soloist and ensemble player she has made numerous recordings and performed concerts worldwide. Recent engagements include productions of Sylvia (Royal Opera House), Turandot (Royal Opera House) and concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Sounds Positive. Melanie is in much demand as a woodwind 'Doubler' in the West End and has played in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, La Cava, Passion and Grease to name but a few! Recent engagements include South Pacific (Royal National Theatre) and Just So (Chichester Festival Theatre). She also recorded the cast album for both shows. Melanie teaches at Trinity College of Music and examines and adjudicates in other Conservatoires. She is also a syllabus selector for the Associated Board and is currently revising the saxophone repertoire lists. Melanie was honoured to be awarded an ARAM last year. |
