The Fellowship offers an intensive year- long professional development period for an established chamber ensemble in its transition from music college to the professional world. As the needs of the individual ensembles differ, the final programme will be decided through consultation with the relevant mentor, Head(s) of Faculty and Head of Postgraduate Programmes.
Open to any established instrumental classical chamber ensemble including (but not limited to) string, piano, wind or brass trios, quartets, quintets etc. Ensembles will normally consist of 3 – 6 musicians usually under 30 years of age. Candidates should already have successfully completed formal studies at a level at least equivalent to a postgraduate diploma or degree, or be completing these studies in the academic year in which the application is made. Applicant ensembles must be able to prove that they have been together for a minimum of 1 year and also be able to demonstrate substantial successful experience as an ensemble.
The Richard Carne Junior Fellows will be awarded a tax-free bursary of £10,000 to cover group expenses and help defray the cost of any tuition undertaken during the academic year of their tenure.
Normally awarded for one academic year, but with an option for renewal for one further academic year.
