John Wakefield was born 1956 in Yorkshire, England. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and went on to debut in the Welsh National Opera in 1960. His career has included roles like Macduff, Glyndebourne, 1964 and Rinuccio, the Royal Opera Houe, 1965. Other roles include: Feton, Tamino, Paris, Don Ottavio, Ferrando, Belmonte, Idamente, Rodolfo, Orfeo, Ormindo, Essex and Saul. He has recorded La traviata , Ormindo; The Mikado ; and Messiah. John was honoured to receive the Kathleen Ferrier Scholarship in 1958 and the Tenor Prize, S’hertogenbusch, 1959. |
