Omar Ebrahim served his performing apprenticeship at the Royal Shakespeare Company and in the Glydebourne chorus, performing the role of Schaunard in “La Bohème” for Glyndebourne Touring Opera in 1980.
He has been involved with many contemporary opera and concert performances including Nigel Osborne’s The Electrification of the Soviet Union for Glyndebourne Festival Opear, New Year by Tippett and The Second Mrs. Kong by Birtwistle for Glynbourne Touring Opera and Glynbourne Festival Opera. He also sang the title role in Lamn’s Agamemnon in the 1997 Holland Festival. Most recently he has sung the role of Choregos in Birtwistle’s Punch and Judy for Basel Opera.
As an actor he has performed Schoenberg’s Ode to Napoleon and Strauss’s melodrama on Tennyson’s Endel Arden for IRCAM in Paris and A Survivor from Warsaw (Schoenberg) and The Raft of the Medusa (Henze) with BBC Symphony Orchestra. He also played Archie Cannibal in Chip with Everything at Leeds Playhouse. |
